The quail are packed in 6mil commercial freezer bags to maintain freshness and prolong freezer life.
If properly stored, frozen quail can last 12 months or more in the freezer. We recommend minimizing any exposure to air by keeping the the freezer bags fully sealed while stored.
The safest and most preferable way to thaw frozen animal food is in a refrigerated space at 40 F.
Frozen animal food should not be thawed by exposure to excessive heat such as a microwave or hot water. Never use the kitchen sink or food preparation areas to thaw frozen animal food. Frozen animal food, once thawed, should never be refrozen.
If you are feeding the quail to reptiles, be sure to place the thawed quail in hot water (100°F -1 10°F) before offering to said reptile(s).
What the Quail Farms utilizes Carbon dioxide (CO2).
CO2 euthanasia is humane, quick, painless and does not cause the animals undue stress. This method is recommended by the American Veterinary Medical Association. Using CO2 also ensures that there are no harmful chemical residues, which could be detrimental to the health of the animal ingesting the prey item.
Here at What the Quail Farms, we take every precaution to make sure our animals are healthy and make safe feeders for your pets.
We are NPIP and AI certified with a biosecure facility.
However, whole prey can still transmit germs to you or your animals if not properly handled. We encourage you to visit our FOOD SAFETY (https://www.whatthequailfarms.com/food-safety)page for more information.
We are a bio-secure farm. Diseases can be spread on clothing and shoes, therefore we do not allow people to visit our facility.
